Two Popular Sportswear Brands Released Special Edition Sneakers for Pride Month

Nike and Adidas continue to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community through special edition creations to help celebrate Pride Month.

Nike combined two prominent symbols of pride, the Rainbow Flag and the Pink Triangle (one of the Nazi concentration camp badges used to identify male prisoners who were sent there because of their homosexuality), to create the LGBTQ-themed Nike Air VaporMax as an addition to the brand’s 2017 Be True Collection. The sneaker’s signature Flyknit upper is covered in a deep royal blue and it comes with a rainbow-inspired VaporMax sole.

Nike also released an LGBTQ-themed Flyknit Racer which is predominantly black and white in color and features a rainbow-colored Swoosh on the side with a “Be True” brand on the tongue.

Adidas also joined Nike in their efforts to support the LGBTQ+ community by releasing its LGBTQ+ Ultra Boost 3.0 as a part of its 2017 Pride Pack Collection. The sneaker features an updated Primekit base in black to match the three-stripe cage overlay and is accompanied with a balloon-ish white heel cage that features subtle rainbow accents. A portion of the sales of the sneaker will go to benefit New Avenues for Youth.
